Mark Your Calendar For the Plano Magazine Beer Walk

Are you a fan of craft beer? Fancy trying some of the best options Oklahoma, Louisiana and Texas craft breweries have to offer? Join the Plano Magazine at The Shops at Willow Bend.

What is the Plano Magazine Beer Walk?

If there is one thing all Plano residents love, it’s drinking beer and shopping. The Plano Magazine Beer Walk, therefore, is a great event that combines both. Rather than expect you to travel around town, from one bar or establishment to the other, the event is designed to give you all the tastes and experience of the best craft beers in town, all under one roof.

How Does it Actually Work?

There are more than 30 different beers, all from local craft breweries. The first thing you need to do, upon arrival at The Shops at Willow Bend complex is check-in. Take your very own collectible glass and an accompanying map that will guide you to all those tasty samples and start your beer walk. The fun starts at 5.30 and finishes at 8.30, though you can check-in at any time between those times.

A Chance to Meet the Brewers

One of the great things is it gives you the opportunity to not only try some delicious beers but the people behind them. You can learn the method in their madness and find out more about the brewing process. A must for all true beer lovers.

Some of the great breweries have made appearances at the Plano Magazine Beer Walk in the past. Favorites at the event have included Great Raft, Lakewood Brewing Co., Unlawful Assembly Brewing Company and Texas Ale Project. If you’ve been to others throughout the year, don’t worry.

At least half of the sample beers along with the prizes and live music changes from one walk to the next. So, you’re always in for a surprise.

Is it All About the Beer?

Although beer is an integral part of the event, that’s not all the Plano Magazine Beer Walk has to offer. There is a stellar line-up of live music throughout the day. So, you can tap your toes and dance too, if you like. To help your stomach deal with all that alcohol, there is also a wide variety of pop-up vendors selling food.

Is the Event Just for Adults?

Not at all. The mall itself will be opened to non-participants in the Beer walk anyway. Besides, the Plano Magazine Beer Walk was devised as an event all families from Plano could enjoy. Just remember to be a responsible patron, don’t drink too much and make sure you have transportation arranged.

If you live in Plano and are looking for something different to do, why not attend the Beer Walk. An interesting selection of beer, delicious food, toe-tapping live music, and great prizes await. There’s a reason why this event is so popular. It really brings the community together and helps to support local Plano businesses.

Plano Balloon Festival Half Marathon, 10K, 5K and 1K – 20th to 22nd September, 2019

There are few more serene and magnificent sights than a hot air balloon floating gracefully through the sky – apart, that is, from 40 of them! That’s the main attraction of the Plano Balloon Festival – which takes place on the weekend from the 20th to the 22nd of September, 2019 – for many people, but for others, it’s the opportunity to take place in one of the traditional running races that the Festival also plays host to. The runs are designed for fun – and they also encourage families to get out there and either run or walk the course – and you are not expected to perform like a professional athlete! Instead, you can sign up for one of the distances and enjoy the wonderful atmosphere, mix with other runners or walkers, and take in the fabulous scenery as the balloons make their way above!

Sky High Challenge

If you are serious about your running, the Plano Balloon Festival Sky High Challenge is the event for you. This combines the Half Marathon with the 5K run, and is a competitive or fun event, whichever you choose to make it! It’s also very popular and spaces are filling up quickly, so get your registration in right away. You can choose to run the Half Marathon without the 5K run if you wish. The Elevate Challenge combines the 5K and 10K events, for those who want to try their hand at a serious distance. You can choose to enter either of those and run competitively over your chosen distance. For fun, the organizers also offer the 10K Run/Walk and 5K Run/Walk events, as well as one for the families that makes an ideal addition to a fun day out, the 1K Family Run/Walk, and all of these are for your enjoyment.

Balloon Rides

Once you’ve enjoyed your run there is plenty to see and do at the Plano Balloon Festival. You can take a tethered balloon ride and see the venue from above, and marvel at the specially shaped balloons that are always a favorite at this annual event. You can also enjoy a range of entertainment on the live stage, where local bands will be performing on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the Festival. Friday and Saturday evenings also feature exciting firework displays, and at 5.30 on each day, the famous skydiving team Re/Max of Texas will be jumping from their plane right over the park – a sight you really can’t miss! There are exciting kids inflatable rides in the Kids Fun Zone, plus an obstacle course that will challenge them, and the Central Market area will appeal to anyone who likes to shop! With food of all types on offer, spectacular events throughout the weekend and the chance to take part in a long, short, serious or non-serious run or walk, the Plano Balloon Festival is the place to be on the weekend in question, so book your spots now and get that training started!

Here Comes the Downtown Plano August Art and Wine Walk : Sideshow

The city of Plano, Texas is one that keeps a low profile, yet it’s also one you should definitely visit – especially if you enjoy art and wine! For many people, art and wine go together well, and they certainly do in Plano. Here, a local magazine – Plano! – came up with an idea a few years ago of organising an ‘art and wine walk’ on a regular basis through the city. The Downtown Plano Art and Wine Walk is now a well-subscribed event that is in its 4th year. You can enjoy a guided walk every month from April to December. If you want to get on board for the August event, you can book tickets online at this link, and we recommend you do so quickly as these excellent events may sell out fast. What can you expect when you take part in the Plano Art and Wine Walk? Put simply, good fun, good company, good wine and enjoyable art!

Various Locations

The walks are planned to take in the very best of Plano’s social scene, as well as the best of its wine, and you can expect a thoroughly enjoyable, entertaining and informative evening. Each month’s walk has a theme, and the upcoming walk – which takes place on the 8th of August – has the theme ‘Sideshow’; you’ll need to dig deeper to find out more! The evening begins at 5pm at a well-known Plano venue event 1013, where you will be given a commemorative glass, plus your tasting card and wine guide. When they say ‘walk’ do bear in mind that while there is some walking from venue to venue involved, there are also around 20 stops each month to sample different wines! While on the walk, participants fill in their tasting cards as they go, which is a great way of remembering the wines you appreciated, and you’ll also enjoy some venues with live music, fine local art, and if you wish, some shopping along the way. It’s a great evening out, and you’ll surely make new wine and art-loving friends!

Evening Raffle and After-Party

The walk finishes officially at 9.15pm when walkers gather in the McCall Plaza. Here, you hand in your card to enter a raffle, which features some great prizes! Once the raffle has been drawn, you are free to join the after-party at Hub Street, a popular sports bar and restaurant, where the fun continues with good wine and other drinks available at sensible prices, as well as Plano Art and Wine Walk merchandise. The Art and Wine Walk is, as we have said, not only a great way of meeting new like-minded people – so excellent if you’re new to the area – but is also an educational walk around the city, taking in some of the best bars and entertainment in Plano. Remember to get in early for your tickets, it’s really not expensive at $15 dollars for an evening out if you book in advance!
